So, yesterday’s Gandhi presentation went pretty well. I ended up shoving myself out of the broom closet in class though. Here’s the story:
The class was put into a circle and as the Professor spoke about Gandhi, he asked who meditated, I rose my hand and he asked why. I said it was partly for my religion as well as to help me stay calm, etc. He asked what religion, and the minute I said paganism, five heads did a whiplash turn. But, there was, thankfully no backlash. Later that day, a super sweet girl from said class actually came up to me and told me how she researched Paganism and thought it was really cool and interesting. I almost cried and hugged her, but instead I told her that I really appreciated that she didn’t assume and that she actually came up to me. :) She also said that she liked my outfit, which was, honestly, not something I’d usually wear. But, I was trying to do something different that day.
I’m doing a self-experiment on myself with the veil, just to clarify. I call it a self-experiment because I honestly have no idea what else to call it and it’s easier to just say that when someone asks questions.
Also! Today, I tried wearing somewhat of hijab, for a lot of different reasons. But, I tried to tie it in a way that didn’t look like a hijab too much because I didn’t want to offend anyone. So far, it’s been a wonderful experience and I’m giving modest dressing and the hijab a lot of thought. It really is amazing and I’m glad that I pushed my fear away and wore it. The day’s not over though!
So, that’s it! Thank you to any who read this post. I just wanted to share some good news. Have a great day and/or night, all you lovely people! :)
